David Rahr
As the founding President of The Vermont Community Foundation, David Rahr has the ultimate hands-on experience in all aspects of a nonprofit organization. The foundation had no assets at its inception in 1987 and is now a community resource with well over $100 million in assets - dedicated to the clear and simple objective of strengthening Vermont communities.
Over a long career in the field of philanthropy, Rahr has worked with a diverse group of nonprofit organizations by providing support, counsel and encouragement.
The accolades David receives reflect a lifetime commitment to serving others.
By setting professional leadership standards at Princeton University, Middlebury College and Vermont Community Foundation, and through comparable volunteer service on behalf of dozens of charitable organizations, David has been a leading mentor to the non-profit community and guided hundreds of volunteer and staff leaders through a wide variety of capacity building efforts.
A 1960 cum laude graduate of Princeton University who also holds a certificate from the Harvard Institute for Educational Management, Rahr planned and directed a $60 million capital campaign at Middlebury College; helped plan and implement a $275 million capital campaign at Princeton University; and led Princeton's alumni relations programs and activities.
A resident of Old Lyme, CT, David is a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
