Krissa Bolton

From her early years as manager/owner of one of the largest working sheep farms in New England, Krissa has been involved with organizational management, grass roots development and technological advancement with a keen eye to a practical approach.  She has carried forth this philosophy in her work with non profits, whether serving on the board or as a consultant.

Krissa’s professional experiences include serving in leadership roles at major education institutions: Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, UVM College of Medicine and Middlebury College in the areas of the annual fund, reunion programs, major gifts, stewardship and planned giving program as well as serving as the director of development for a community mental health organization.  She has been involved with several multi-million dollar campaigns and served as a consultant for a local theater group’s capital campaign.  While living in Europe for four years, she worked with several international women’s organizations focusing on fundraising and organizational development and oversaw the formulation and implementation of charitable activities with the U.S.Embassies in both Madrid and Vienna.

Her thirteen years of professional life in philanthropy have included service on non-profit and community boards.  This has provided her with the skills to help diverse organizations identify their core strengths, refine their development programs and understand the strategic role that stewardship plays in their growth.  Krissa enjoys working with people and has a keen understanding of the importance of identifying key players and including them in strategic planning.  Krissa currently serves on the Porter Hospital Auxiliary Board; chairs the finance committee of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and was instrumental in developing a legacy program there; serves as secretary of the Opera Company of Middlebury; and is a member of the Town Hall Theater Capital Campaign Committee. Her past community commitments have included chairing the Vermont Lamb Promotion Board and the Shoreham Elementary School Board, and serving on the Yankee Shepherd Coop and the Vermont State Craft Center at Frog Hollow boards.

Krissa graduated from the University of Connecticut, magna cum laude.  A mother of two sons, she has been active in outdoor sports.  Currently, she and her husband enjoy back country, cross country and alpine skiing, hiking, cycling and traveling.  In her quiet time she reads, gardens and is engaged in many landscaping projects around their new home.
